Leslie Swartz-Williams, MD

I am a board-certified internal medicine physician with professional interests in preventive medicine, total care of complex patients and geriatric care. 

I am passionate about: animals. I appreciate that we are caretakers of the animals of this world and are responsible for their health and well-being. Growing up I had a dog, raised a baby squirrel, and had frogs, toads and snakes.  I’ve had four standard poodles (usually two at a time) and three cats in the past 25 years. I like to keep the birds happy with several feeders.

Most people don’t know: I was a gymnast throughout my college years.

My favorite book is: All Creatures Great and Small. It's hilarious and about a vet who is cares for animals in the early 20th century.

My favorite destination is: (most lately) Cozumel. The vacation was very relaxing and I was able to hike, snorkel and scuba dive.

My hero is: my mother, who was one on the first nurse practitioners in Minnesota. She is intelligent, caring and very independent. She raised three children while completing her degree, and one of the women who led the fight for women's rights.

One of the challenges of my career that I enjoy is: that every patient is different. I love learning what each individual's needs are and how they want me to provide the best care that I can. It's a challenge to make that discovery and it can take a lot of time.

My personal health goal is: to maintain my current healthy weight, strength and general condition. I was blessed with good genes and want to be able to hike, garden and move heavy objects well into my 80's.
