If I wasn't a provider, I would be a: stay-at-home mom, and manager of all things household and family. I enjoy planning, organizing and spending time with my family.
I became a provider because: my mother saw the skills in me that would make for a good provider: caring, compassion and a desire to help people. I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to do more and impact people in a different way.
Something that I have learned from my patients is: each person wants to be understood and to be heard. I take time to listen to establish a provider-patient connection, which can lead to a therapeutic relationship.
The best thing health advice I've received is: about choice. If you are spending time thinking about how to improve your health, think about the choices you're making with food, exercise and sleep.
I am most proud of: making it though graduate school and having two beautiful children with my husband along the way.
