Dr. Pesek is an obstetrician and gynecologist with professional interests in abnormal bleeding, high and low risk prenatal care, contraception and minimally invasive procedures.
I am passionate about: educating women about their health in all the various stages of their lives and working with them to decide the best way for each woman to have a fulfilling life.
Something that I have learned from my patients is: something I was taught in medical school, "the patient is telling you her diagnosis". I see my work as a collaboration with my patients. My patients are the experts when it comes to knowing their body and telling me about their symptoms. My training and experience then allows me to use the information they shared to determine the most likely underlying cause and work together to decide the best treatment options.
One of the challenges of being a doctor that I enjoy: is the hours, babies wait for no one. But there isn't any better reason to be awake in the middle of the night, than to experience a new life coming into the world.
My personal health goal is: to make vegetables and fruit a more integral part of my diet. Last year for Lent instead of giving up meat on Fridays, our family only ate meat once a week. Now, our family tries to eat only fruits and veggies for between meal snacks.
The best thing I've done for my health is: going back to the gym after having children. When my oldest child turned five, I decided the excuse, "I'm too busy being a mom and an Ob-Gyn to go the the gym" had left me really out of shape. I started with walking on the treadmill and slowly built up from there. I helps me keep up with my energetic children and is a really great stress reliever too.
