Sakina Sachak, MD

I am a board-certified family physician and OB hospitalist at District One Hospital. I have professional interests in pediatric and adolescent health, diabetes, women's health and obstetrics.

I'm passionate about: building relationships with my patient's and their families. I went into this field because I had a great family physician who became like part of my family. I hope to provide great care and help others as if they are a part of my extended family.

If I wasn't a provider, I would be a: teacher because I love to talk a lot and explain things to others, and watching people grow is so inspiring.

I was inspired to become a physician when: I was 10 years old and had a traumatic accident, and spent three years in an out of hospitals and clinics. The perspective I gained during that time led to my passion to help others. Throughout my journey, I realized that medicine involves caring for both the mental and physical and that no two individuals are the same. My passion to help others and my desire to build relationships encouraged me to become a full spectrum family physician with the privilege to learn and work with a variety of wonderful families to help them grow throughout life.

My personal health goal is to: take some time out each day for my mental and physical health by walking through the breeze, or a bike ride with some great music.

The best thing I've done for my health is: to realize that taking small steps in the right directions is an accomplishment in itself. Always keep working toward a goal but realize that one step back isn't the end of the game.
