Practice philosophy: My role as a dietitian is to help you evaluate your current dietary patterns, provide education and resources to help you select appropriate food choices, encourage you to make dietary & lifestyle changes and help create nutrition goals to promote overall health & well-being.
My passion for helping patients: I’m passionate about helping people make changes in their diet and lifestyle to improve their overall health and well-being. As part of my job, I have the privilege of working with patients before and after weight loss surgery. I am overwhelmed with joy when I have a patient come in after weight loss surgery who tells me all the ways that they got their life back after weight loss surgery. Most often during initial visits I will ask the patient to list their health goals and dreams. I absolutely love helping my patients achieve their goals and often times I get to see these dreams become a reality.
What I have learned from my patients: Progress is the goal, not perfection.
Why I became a dietitian: My best friend had an eating disorder in high school and I saw how it negatively affected not only her, but her family, and friends as well. This sparked my interest in nutrition as I didn’t want anyone else to go through what she went through. Food is something that we need to live and it is so easy to be consumed by food and let it dictate our lives rather than consume a healthy, well-balanced diet.
The best thing I have done for my health: I started waking up earlier and working out before work. I found that if I didn’t workout in the morning, often times I would skip my workout all together because something else would come up. Working out first thing in the morning has helped me start my day off right.
