I am a board-certified doctor of podiatric medicine and surgery with professional interests in conservative and surgical care of the foot and ankle. I do reconstructive foot surgery, including the diabetic foot and diabetic limb salvage.

Best part of my work: I enjoy getting people back on their feet into exercise and normal daily activities without pain.
What I tell my friends and family: Invest in really good, comfortable shoes-you're worth it! Stretch your feet and legs every day.
How I spend my free time: Bicycling, nordic skiing, reading, gardening. If I'm not outside in my garden or on a bike, I'm training for cross-country ski races.

Favorite health tip: Try to maintain an active lifestyle, even if your feet are causing you trouble.
In November 2016, Dr. Benton was named president of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
