Leah Kuipers, CNP

I am the care team partner of Seth Vogel, MD. As a care team, one physician and one advance practice clinician share a patient's care and actively manage and deliver care together.

I am passionate about: ensuring that my patients understand their medical diagnosis. I find that knowledge is the key to a patient feeling empowered to ask the right questions and be involved in medical decision making as we work toward collaborative health maintenance goals. 

I became a provider because: caring for others has been a strong characteristic of mine since I was young, so becoming a nurse felt like a natural choice. After nine years of caring for patients at the bedside I was ready for a new challenge, so I went back to school, completing my master of science in nursing and family nurse practitioner certification.

My personal health goal: not all that much different than my patients. I want to make healthier food choices, I want to drink less caffeine, and I want to exercise more. If you come and see me, ask how well I am sticking to my goal!

The best thing I have done for my health is: starting to jog. I have always been active, but did not start jogging until after I had my kids. I find that a short jog along the Mississippi River to be great for my physical and psychological health. 

I am most proud of: my three children. Their character, beauty, strength and perspective has taught me what it means to love and to embrace life. As a mother who works full-time, I am proud of the way in which we are intentional about the way we live our lives and spend time together.
