Non-surgical Weight Loss Procedure

Weight loss procedure that does not require a hospital stay

Allina Health Weight Management offers a non-surgical weight loss procedure that might be right for you.

  • Two connected balloons filled with salt water are placed inside your stomach for six months. They help you feel less hungry, because the balloons fill up space in your stomach.
  • You do not have to stay in the hospital – you go home the same day.
  • The balloons are removed after six months by your doctor.
  • You also receive one year of support and education from a registered dietitian.

In a study, patients lost more than twice as much weight by having this procedure compared to losing weight through diet and exercise alone. Most people who have had the dual-balloon procedure keep the weight off or continue to lose weight even after the balloons are removed.
